Ayi, 阿姨, pronounced as "Ah-Yee", is a respectful way to call a nanny or caregiver in Chinese. Our ayis are here to support your needs at home, including but not limited to caring for your little one(s) or loved one(s), light house keeping, meal preparation, cooking and laundry.
Where do you find the caregivers?
Most of the applications come through our on-line systems, network or personal referrals from clients or caregivers.
What type of child care or other services does your service provide?
We offer child care, senior care, home care services. Our nannies/caregivers provide live-in, live-out full-time, and part-time help. All of our nannies/caregivers are required to be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Some may or may not be English proficient.
What kind of pre-screenings do you perform?
We do a series of screenings prior to introducing our nannies/caregivers to you, including personal interviews, experience reviews, and/or reference calls. There are many candidates that we screen and we only select a small number of qualified caregivers for our clients.
What about medical testing, HIV, drug, or TB tests?
We can arrange for your nanny to have medical testing as a condition of her placement. We use Concentra medical centers with many locations throughout the Metroplex. We will submit their bill to you for payment.
Do you pay the caregiver or do we? If so, do we need to pay taxes?
Each Ayi is employed directly by the family. For questions related to taxes, please consult a tax accountant for more information as we are unable to provide legal advice on payment. The concerns will need to be addressed prior to employment.
What are the average caregiver rate/salary?
For a live-in and full-time Ayi, we recommend industry standards between $500 - $800 per week depending on the nanny/caregiver experience and job requirements. For part-time Ayi, we believe rates should generally be ranging between $12 and $20 per hour.
What are the agency fees?
Once you decide to work with us, we ask for a non-refundable search fee to start the process. A placement fee is only charged when you hire a caregiver. This includes interview, reference check, background disclosure and other ongoing support.
Do we need to provide food and transportation for our caregivers?
For a live-in Ayi, families will need to provide food, necessary accommodations, and/or transportation depending on the tasks. For a live-out Ayi, families typically will not need to provide food, accommodations, or transportation to get to work. If a family requires transportation/driving of the nanny during the work day, the family will usually provide transportation or expense reimbursement (gas, toll, mileage, public transportation, etc.).
What benefits are generally provided?
We recommend that families annually provide long term nannies (more than six months) a minimum of six paid holidays, five paid sick and/or personal days, and up to two weeks of paid vacation. Depending on families' situation, you are welcome to provide some health insurance coverage, but many families do not. All live-in positions provide room and board and many provide access to a car for both personal and work-related use.
When do I need to start looking for a caregiver?
We recommend 4 weeks before you need the caregiver so that we can perform the necessary due diligence to find you the right Ayi as we spend a lot of time upfront to make sure the Ayi is the right fit for you. The average time is between two to six weeks depending on requirements and individual circumstances.
How many caregivers will I be able to meet?
We will connect you with the most qualified prospects. However, there isn't a limit on the number of Ayi you will meet. It will depend on your level of engagement and caregivers' qualifications. We find the number of 3 usually works magic.
What if I want to check out the nanny candidates myself?
You should, and we will provide you with the applicant's references, along with her application.
What if things don't work out with the caregiver we hire?
We are happy to help our client families find a replacement free of charge within our support period.
Is my information private?
Yes, we would never share your information unless it is instructed by you.
